I appreciate this post. It gives me hope for my own future. :) One incredibly ridiculous cost of travel is boarding a pet. Absolutely ridiculous. So for now we are trying to travel in driving distance to pet friendly places and live vicariously through your posts and Sue's stories. Love the pics. I am a big fan of graffiti and the de-icing triptych is fun to explore.

I really enjoyed this story and the previous story about small towns and the people who live in those small towns.

My wife and I are traveling to Portugal this year which is a huge expansion of our comfort zone. We’re learning Portuguese on Babel (her) and Duolingo (me). Entertaining for sure! (divertido com certeza!)

I just started writing on Substack having posted on my website blog over a couple of years. Looks like a good platform!

Tchau!

Hi Glenn....thank you for reading and thank you for commenting...

I love Portugal, and I hope you and your wife do too...It's funny, but when I was there--I think it was about two years ago or so--I thought it had vestiges of what a European country was like before the EU...Lisbon is a great city but my heart went out to Porto...it's probably the wrong time of year to visit now, but we spent about ten days in Costa Nova--it was the off season in the fall and normally it's a huge surfer community but we had the beaches to ourselves...another little travel tip Sue and I use is we hardly ever travel in the high season...even home in Massachusetts we try to avoid Cape Cod...

Enjoy your traveling and good for you for learning the language...

Once again, your pix and words are incredibly inspiring. Thanks!

But here's my problem. What if I don't have goals? Believe it or not, I have everything I want- or need (OKOKOK, a bit more time in Paris every year would help, but for now...) The only thing I need is more self-discipline when it comes to writing!

It doesn't sound as if you have any problem at all...and yes, Paris! Though I really am beginning to really love Madrid. At some point on this trip we're heading to Lisbon, too, another real favorite. So many countries, so little time...

Thank you! It was an easy trip, though air travel is now something to just endure until the real fun starts...
